What data we collect and why
Dreamthecar Ltd collects data in order to provide you the customer with an efficient and effective car buying service. We will therefore need to know your name; address; phone and email contact information; data of birth; driving licence number; financial budget for the intended purchase; and of course, the preferences you have for your car/vehicle. Essentially, all the information we require to assist you with your purchase of your next car/vehicle.
How we use the data and who we share it with
Dreamthecar Ltd will use your information to fulfil your car buying requests. This may involve passing your details on to the owners or dealers who have cars/vehicles that might be of interest to you. This will be limited to your name, address and contact details such as telephone number(s), email address(s). No other details will be provided unless you instruct us to do so in writing.
After your successful purchase of the vehicle we will retain the details relating to that purchase (cost/savings achieved/speed of delivery) so that Dreamthecar Ltd can analyse the service provided and improve it for the future. This information will not be shared with anyone other than the design/hosting provider we use to provide our website facilities and services to you.
Any payment/banking details provided will be held on Worldpay servers for increased security of your personal information. For this purpose, Worldpay control this data and Dreamthecar Ltd will not share this information with any one. If you do not pay using Worldpay’s payment gateway, and choose to make direct payment to Dreamthecar Ltd.’s bank account, your information will be retained by the bank and again Dreamthecar Ltd will not share this information with any one.
Dreamthecar Ltd believes that the average consumer changes their car at least every 3 years. It is therefore conceivable that you may require our services again within that period. As such Dreamthecar Ltd may use your data to contact you at regular intervals to enquire as to whether you would like to use our services again. If you would prefer not to be contacted after your purchase is completed, please confirm in writing.
Whilst Dreamthecar Ltd does not anticipate it will be required to, should law enforcement or legal process require us to disclose your data, Dreamthecar Ltd will have no choice but to comply with such requests.
Retention of your data
All information provided by you the customer will be held securely on Dreamthecar Ltd.’s computer/cloud records and the servers of the design/hosting companies which Dreamthecar Ltd use to provide the website facilities and services to you.
In order to ensure that Dreamthecar Ltd can comply with legislation or respond to HMRC or any other legal enquiries, the data collected will be retained for a period of 7 years from date of the last purchase Dreamthecar Ltd assisted you with.
